I AM HERE AS YOUR GUIDE, LET ME HELP YOU.

Valerie Akerson, MSW, LCSW, PMH-C, owner, and founder of Strength to Stand Counseling, is here to assist individuals in the perinatal period (pre-conception-postpartum and including fertility challenges) with that life transition. I have walked many difficult paths personally, from a high risk pregnancy, a traumatic birth and a NICU stay. This is what led me to this work today. I have been fortunate to work with this population for many years. The first step (and many times the hardest) is just this, searching for help and reaching out. Know that the pain you feel today is the strength you will feel tomorrow. Please allow me to help you find your path.

I use a strengths-based approach to assist in coping with current challenges, including the angst and unrest women experience in this ever-changing world. The goal is to improve your life, change your thoughts and work with you on how to cope with future stressors. I am here as a guide, because “you know you” best. Let me help you find the strength to stand against adversity.
